Shiho learned her ceramics in Kyoto while studying under the 8th generation family Professor, Rokubei Kiyomizu, of the Kyoto University of Art and Design.  She was focused on creating sculpture until she relocated to San Francisco in 2015, and then began exploring functionable art with new clay and glaze which provided exciting opportunities for creativity.   Both of her sculpture and functionable arts are inspired from the beauty of nature that can be casually discovered everyday.  The natural forms and shapes that can be observed in the environment are the objectives in her work. She enjoys being true to herself in her work and follows the process of creation in nature. She relocated her studio to NYC in 2018 after three years of studio work in San Francisco.
